Memory
Remembers what you told it, updates it when you change your mind, and lets you see and delete it.
The test
- Day 1
Quick things about me: I'm vegetarian, I like window seats, and my sister Priya lives in Chicago.
- Day 3
Actually, switch me to aisle seats from now on.
- Day 8
Find me a flight to see my sister next month, and somewhere we can have dinner while I'm there.
- Day 8
What do you remember about me? Forget the seat preference.
Setup
- Day 8 starts a new conversation if the product has separate conversations.
Time allowed: 8 days.
Passes when
- On day 8, without reminders: flies to Chicago and picks a vegetarian-friendly dinner
- Uses the updated aisle seat, not the old window seat
- Lists what it remembers, deletes the seat preference, and doesn't bring it up again
Scoring notes
- Remembers nothing on day 8: checkpoints 1 and 2 are missed.

the memory just… drifts. Had it handling a simple multi-step task and it straight-up forgot a key detail from the same conversation 20 minutes earlier.
ComplaintOpen sourceInstinct giving contextual product updates is one of the coolest things I've ever seen
PraiseOpen sourceTown AI offers an autonomous personal assistant feature that acts as a digital worker—learning your habits to manage schedules, draft emails, and handle routine workflows across your entire tech stack.
OtherOpen sourceBeen an absolute game changer for my personal work- I’ve got my own assistant now prepping me for a day in the stock market, responding to emails, and learning how I like to work.
PraiseOpen sourcehey you still working on improving poke as a standalone product I had some feedback wrt its memory
OtherOpen sourceI asked Muse to schedule repeating tasks that only involve web search e.g., every other morning find sci-fi movies playing in my city, 3pm EST stock market summary, etc.
PraiseOpen sourceInstinct is a new startup which launched recently and it does some very nice things on the memory side which gives that feel of it being a real assistant rather than a chatbot.
PraiseOpen sourceIt books, it orders, it watches my inbox, it remembers everything.
PraiseOpen sourceHow well do Townies maintain context across a long group thread, especially when people change their minds or have conflicting preferences?
OtherOpen sourceI ran Vellum for a bit and had same feeling, like I was only person on earth using it. Memory was really good for morning check-ins, it would queue up tasks without me asking. The lack of integrations is probably why it stays quiet, people want one tool that connects to everything instead of wiring up Composio themselves. Hermes gets hype because it's flashier but Vellum is more practical for daily stuff.
ComparisonOpen sourceOrchid is a personal EA that lives in iMessage and SMS: it texts you your day each morning, drafts replies in your voice, books meetings, dinners and travel after you approve, runs recurring habits, and remembers what you tell it. Gmail and Google Calendar only; no published pricing.
OtherOpen sourceyou can start something on desktop, leave, and pick it back up from your phone without rebuilding the context
PraiseOpen sourcenot having to rebuild context every time you switch screens is so nice
PraiseOpen sourcevoice mode is smooth, context sticks, and the open-source + local/cloud option is a nice bonus
PraiseOpen sourceStart a doc on desktop, open the phone later, nothing needs explaining again
PraiseOpen sourceIts the same assistant with the same memory as the one on my laptop, so I can pick up where I left off with it from everywhere.
PraiseOpen source@vellum_ai on ios/android is the first one that felt like the same assistant followed me out
PraiseOpen sourcefinally feels like the ai is actually with you instead of stuck on your desk.
PraiseOpen sourceportable memory is the real unlock here. mobile shifts everything.
PraiseOpen sourcethe response didn’t feel like a tool answering me, it felt like something that actually knows me, more like a companion
PraiseOpen sourceThe same memory in your pocket is the difference between “I’ll handle it later” and handling it now.
OtherOpen source@vellum_ai puts my personal AI on Android with same memory, context and tools across all device
PraiseOpen sourceit’s open-source, keeps your full desktop memory intact and works as an actual personal AI assistant instead of a blank chat window every time you open it
PraiseOpen source@vellum_ai on iOS and Android means the same personal AI, memory, and context stay with you through the day.
PraiseOpen sourcewith @vellum_ai, your AI follows you across devices instead of being locked to your desktop same memory, same context, same tools
OtherOpen sourcewith @vellum_ai on iOS and Android, the same memory, context, and tools travel with you: voice mode on the go, one‑click Gmail/Slack, and persistent memory across devices
OtherOpen sourceI have been using @vellum_ai since the mobile app launched, and the biggest change for me is that a personal AI assistant no longer means sitting in front of my laptop.
Use caseOpen source@vellum_ai on mobile is the first time that’s actually felt true
PraiseOpen source@vellum_ai just dropped on iOS and Android Having the exact same personal AI assistant in my pocket with full memory, voice mode and direct slack/gmail integrations makes managing tasks away from the desk so much easier First 100 people get 30% off their first month
OtherOpen sourcevellum just launched its app on iOS and Android. Now my personal AI assistant can be with me anytime, anywhere.
OtherOpen sourcehaving @vellum_ai on my phone changes that. same context, memory and tools, but now the assistant is actually with me throughout the day.
PraiseOpen source@vellum_ai is bringing that experience to mobile, and I’m here for it.
PraiseOpen sourceCode MOBILE30 gives 30% off the first month for the first 100 signups.
OtherOpen sourceSame memory, same context, same tools, but now they’re with you wherever you go.
PraiseOpen source@vellum_ai dropping ios and android is the first time that loop feels broken
PraiseOpen sourceTried Instinct as much I could, Poke still wins for me @interaction
ComparisonOpen sourcepoke @interaction is not just genie now, it’s the fastest genie. great memory too.
PraiseOpen sourceI'm far from a perfect dad, but my @TownAI Townie does help me as a parent. It already knows my family and is connected to the tools we run on (inboxes, calendars, ClassDojo, medication order history, etc.), so the guidance is specific and action-oriented.
PraiseOpen sourcebig issue with instinct vs eg @TownAI or my own setups is that they haven't actually set up persistent memory, skills, routines, etc. properly.
ComplaintOpen sourceVellum + Unabyss is pure magic for never repeating yourself across agents
PraiseOpen sourceLike fully getting my timezone wrong, forgetting conversations from the prior week. It also wouldn’t respond and messages to me wouldn’t come through.
BugOpen sourceFor my use case at least, Daimon has probably been the best Poke alternative so far.
ComparisonOpen sourceThis is the one I’d probably start with if you want a general AI assistant that remembers you over time.
PraiseOpen sourcefolk getfolk.app, imo the best one, memory-first, lives in iMessage, Telegram and Discord
ComparisonOpen sourceIf your work lives across Slack, project management tools, and CRM systems, the email-first model may add friction instead of cutting it.
OtherOpen sourceI love the concept but it's been pretty finicky, like it's lost all of its past training/context - it only gives me water reminders and a gratitude check in.
BugOpen sourceThe short version: OpenClaw is powerful enough that I now treat it as infrastructure. It is also still rough enough that you need patience, logs, backups and a willingness to debug weird edge cases.
PraiseOpen sourceI've tested dozens of AI agents this year. None of them remember what I said yesterday. tinyNature remembers everything and acts on it without being asked. That's a generational gap.
ComparisonOpen sourceAn AI agent living in your imessage, telegram & whatsapp.
