AI assistants that work in group chats
Which AI assistants can join a group chat?
Updated · 2 assistants ranked
Two assistants in our catalog say they work in group chats: Alfi, which joins group chats to plan, remind and make images, and Bantr, a text-message assistant for schedules, budgets and investments used solo or in groups. Both took at least two of our ten tests, so both are ranked. No other catalog entry says it works in groups.

How this report works
Included are assistants whose catalog description mentions group chats (checked 2026-10-26). They are ranked by the average of the tests they took. None of our ten tests is run inside a group chat, so a score tells you how well the assistant does the job, not how well it behaves among several people. Scores come from the published score sheet and are dated 2026-10-27. 2 of the 2 ranked assistants carry pre-filled scores, which are placeholder estimates the site has not yet replaced with its own test runs, so treat their places as provisional. With only two assistants and no measured scores, read this as a shortlist rather than a result.
How to choose
- Check the channel first. Alfi is listed on iMessage, SMS, WhatsApp, Telegram and an app; Bantr on SMS only, so everyone in the group needs to be able to text it.
- Read the privacy facts: Alfi says it trains on your data by default (memory can be turned off); Bantr says it does not.
- Check the free allowance: Alfi's messaging channels are free up to 8 messages every 12 hours, except SMS.
Can an AI assistant be added to a group chat?
Two of the 47 assistants in our catalog say they can: Alfi (iMessage, SMS, WhatsApp, Telegram and an app) and Bantr (SMS, solo or in groups). Details as checked on 2026-10-26.
Are group chats part of the tests?
No. Every assistant gets the same one-person tests, so group behaviour such as who it answers or how it handles several requests at once is not scored.
